- Day 1: Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Tour
You will be picked up from Kilimanjaro Airport or your hotel in Arusha and driven to Materuni Village (1.5 hours). This 3 day Materuni Waterfalls Tarangire Ngorongoro safari begins with registration at the village office. Your local guide will explain Chagga culture, village life, and the surrounding flora and fauna. A short hike through lush rainforest leads to the stunning 80-meter Materuni Waterfalls. The pool at the bottom is perfect for a refreshing swim, so don’t forget your swimwear!
After enjoying the scenery, you will return to the village for an authentic coffee experience. You will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and ground. You will be invited to help with the grinding, traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances. Overnight at Heart of Africa Lodge near Arusha.
- Day 2: Tarangire National Park Game Drive
Your safari guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and drive you to Tarangire National Park (2 hours). This 3 day Materuni Waterfalls Tarangire Ngorongoro safari continues with a full day of wildlife viewing with lunch boxes. The park is named after the Tarangire River, the only permanent water source during the dry season. This attracts massive elephant families, giraffes, bushbucks and hartebeests.
Predators like lions and leopards follow closely. You will see abundant zebras, wildebeests and buffaloes. The landscape is dotted with giant baobab trees. You will have a picnic lunch at a designated site inside the park. After an exciting day of game drives, you will transfer to Farm of Dreams Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
- Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive & Transfer
You will wake up early for breakfast. Your safari guide will then take you to the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive with lunch boxes. This 3 day Materuni Waterfalls Tarangire Ngorongoro safari reaches its climax as you descend into the crater. The journey into the crater feels like entering a lost world. This natural amphitheater has walls 600 meters high and a diameter of 20 kilometers.
Once at the bottom, you will be surrounded by over 500 bird species, zebras, gazelles, wildebeests, hippos and flamingos. This is your best chance to spot the endangered black rhino in open grasslands. After an unforgettable game drive, you will be transferred back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport, where your tour ends.
